I was looking at a picture of Ferdinand Hodler's painting, "Lake Thun", and realized how he conveyed serenity, calm, and beauty through his brilliant use of color and symmetry. I thought to myself: would it be possible to bring about the same instant serenity in an observer of a webpage? How should such a webpage be designed? Serenity is my attempt at recapturing Hodler's vision, and bringing it to the web, without using graphics of any kind - just words, and color.
